ER Episode 19 Season 4 “Shades of Gray”

This episode opens up with Dr. Carter applying for a loan.  He runs into complications because he has no previous tax returns because his first job was being a doctor and had never had a previous job growing up because of his wealth.

There are two major things that are brewing in the beginning of this episode.  The first one is Dr. Anspaugh’s son passed away, and the second is there is a committee that is going to review the case with Dr. Morgenstern and Dr. Benton to see exactly why the man died.

Jeanie Boulet is the one employee that goes to the funeral because of how close she had gotten to Scott, Dr. Anspaugh’s son.  Scott even left Jeanie a box of his belongings.

After this scene, the next scene is the review of the Dr. Morgenstern case.  As the scene starts both Dr. Benton and Dr. Morgenstern start basically going against each other instead of protecting each other.  In the end since Dr. Morgenstern was the senior surgeon, Dr. Benton is suspended after the review.

In this episode Dr. Carte has a case of an elderly man with bed sores and feces on his body when hes brought in.  Dr. Carter makes a decision to put him into an extended care home because of the signs of neglect that are exhibited on his body.

My favorite part of the episode was when Jeanie Boulet sings at Scotts funeral.  She sings his favorite song and its a kind of inspiring part of the show.

The final major part is Dr. Morgenstern admits to making a major error in the surgery.  He notifies the hospital staff and asks that Dr. Benton gets his job back.

I rate this episode a 5 because this out of the whole season was one of my favorite episode.
