ER Episode 21 Season 4 “Suffer the Little Children”

This episode begins with Jeanie Boulet thinking her HIV has taken a turn for the worse because she wakes up feeling very sick.

Another thing is Dr. Romano sees Dr. Benton and Dr. Corday kissing after Dr. Corday tells Dr. Romano she doesnt date people that she works with.

Dr. Ross runs out of the hospital to bring back the child that was addicted to methadone because he is now returning to his mother who steals the methadone that the child needs for her own drug abuse.

Dr. Ross takes this case into his own hands and decides to put the child on an ultra- rapid detox right in the Emergency Room.  This procedure is completely not allowed to be done without supervision from higher people.  The major fact that makes this wrong is that he is hiding it from everyone in the ER.   After a while the monitor begins to go off that the baby’s heart rate was dropping.  Dr Greene hears this and goes into the room and sees that he is de-toxing the baby without consent or anything.  They move the baby up to Pediatric intensive care unit.  Dr. Weaver finds out and tells Dr. Ross that he will have to explain this case to the entire board of directors.

This particular case could have ruined Dr. Ross’ career in medicine because doing this procedure was so over the line and out of the boundaries of his job.  Dr. Greene even lost respect for him after this procedure because of the way he went about it.  The whole situation is wrong and mainly it probably shoots down any chance of Dr. Ross getting a Pediatric attending position, which is what he had been fighting for.

I rate this episode a 5 because of the suspense and action that it had in it.
