ER Episode 22 Season 4 ” A Hole in the Heart”

This episode opens up right where the previous episode left off with Dr. Ross and Dr. Weaver taking the baby up to the PICU.  When they arrive there they choose to continue to rapid detox that Dr. Ross has already started.  While this is going on Dr. Ross calls an emergency meeting with the Chief of Staff Dr. Anspaugh and some of the pediatricians.  He calls this meeting to brief everyone before Dr. Weaver could get to it and point out all the negatives on what he did.  Next the mother of the child arrives at the hospital and wants to see her son.  This situation could turn out good or bad for Dr. Ross depending on how she feels about the rapid detox.  When the mother arrives the first question she ask is if Dr. Ross could do the same thing for her.  In the end this case turned out in Dr. Ross’ favor because the child comes out of the procedure doing well and the mother approves and wants one for herself.

The next major thing is Dr. Weaver quits as Acting Chief of Emergency Medicine.  She quits because she feels like nobody listens to policy, her main example is Dr. Ross.

The episode ends with a man coming in for the second time in the day.  He has a gun and they find out that he has shot his entire family in the car outside in the ambulance bay.

I rate this episode a 5 because right at the end the trauma that comes in is very suspenseful and shocking.

  1. Professor Dunphy Says:

    John,

This is all summary… what about the questions I asked, the suggested ones?

This show was ground-breaking in so many ways but just to continue to summarize?

I think if you approached it in a different way it would have been even better.
